photo Ai Li Brown

Ai Li is the owner and director of Brown Music Together. She was born in Malaysia and received her early musical training in the British Royal Schools of Music tradition. At the age of seventeen, she obtained her Performer's Licentiate Diploma from Trinity School of Music, London and soon after received a scholarship to study piano in the United States. She graduated magna cum laude from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas with both piano performance and piano pedagogy degrees, where she studied with Alfred Mouledous and Sam Holland. She then went on to complete her Master of Music degree there as well. Upon graduation, she became a faculty member at Dallas Music, the largest private music school in the Dallas area. There she taught private and group piano classes, general music classes for toddlers, and she was also the pianist for the Suzuki flute program. Ai Li is an experienced chamber recitalist, playing mainly with flutists and string players. She is also a Level III Orff-Schulwerk certified instructor. She is extremely dedicated to early childhood music education and simply loves working with young children. Ai Li received her Music Together training under Lynn Ransom in Columbus, Ohio in the Fall of 2004 and is now a registered Music Together teacher and director of Brown Music Together.
Besides teaching Music Together, she  also teaches Orff-Schulwerk music and movement to 2-6 year olds at the Summit Country Day Montessori School and maintains a private piano studio where she teaches children and adults. Ai Li has two young children herself - a 10 year old girl and 6 year old boy and when she is not teaching or at the piano she enjoys running and the outdoors where she loves spending time in the woods with her family. She also loves to cook, knit and travel overseas. Besides English she also speaks Malay, Chinese, Italian, and a little Spanish and German.

photo Sarah McCoy

Sarah McCoy has been teaching young music-makers for 19 years in a variety of settings.  She earned her BA in Music from Centre College and her Master of Education from Xavier University.  She has also earned her Orff-Schulwerk certification, Levels I-III, from University of Nevada at Las Vegas.  It was during that training that she discovered the power of exploration, experience, and improvisation in teaching music to children of all ages and abilities.  She taught elementary general music classes in Finneytown for six years, until becoming a mother.  Over the past 13 years, she has spent time teaching general music classes for homeschooled children and at a small Catholic elementary school, private piano lessons, and preschool music classes at Bluebird Christian Preschool (since 2008).

Sarah was first introduced to the Music Together program in 2006, when she took classes with her almost two-year old son and newborn daughter.  She found it to be a great complement to the experiential philosophy of the Orff-Schulwerk method.  The playfulness and variety of instrumental and motor activities in each class inspired her own teaching when she started teaching music classes at her children’s preschool two years later.  She completed her Music Together teacher training in 2015 and is eager to share this program with you and your children.

photo Carissa Young, apprentice teacher

Carissa Young was born in Germany and grew up in Northeast Ohio. She studied at Ohio University, where she completed a Bachelor of Music in Music Education as well as a Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting. Her teaching experience includes a wide range of settings, ages and musical abilities. Over the past eight years, she has taught K-3 General Music and 7-12 Instrumental Music in public and private schools, taught privately as a piano and flute instructor, served as an associate conductor of collegiate ensembles, and worked with adults and children in church and community choirs.

A mother of four young children whose ages range from 1-6, Carissa first discovered Music Together in 2014, when she attended a class with her oldest daughter, and was immediately “hooked!” It was clear that Music Together was both highly research-based AND fun for families! Carissa was thrilled to finally witness the fruits of early childhood music research being put in to action. Her “inner-musician” was pleased with the diversity of meters and tonalities represented throughout the Music Together song collections. And her “inner-mom” is very happy to have found an enjoyable way to sneak in all those musical vitamins so important for our children’s development! In August 2019, she completed her Music Together training with program founder, Dr. Lili Levinowitz, and is excited to share her teaching talents with our families.
